Softball’s Shortridge Named Easton All-American

BATON ROUGE — LSU softball’s Kirsten Shortridge continues to add to her impressive list of accolades Thursday as she became the 13th player in program history to earn Easton All-America honors.

A day after being named All-Louisiana First Team and LSWA Newcomer of the Year, Shortridge picked up an Easton All-America Second-Team selection to go along with her Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America Third-Team honors from last week. She joins Leslie Klien (2004, 2006 & 2007), LaDonia Hughes (2004) and Trena Peel (2002) as the only Tiger outfielders to be honored from both organizations during the same season.

Shortridge tallied an impressive .426 batting average on 80 hits to go along with 26 multi-hit efforts. Her .426 clip was second-highest, while the 80 hits were tied for eighth-most in program history over a single season. She also swiped 26 stolen bases. The Texas native recorded a 5-4 mark in the circle, including marquee wins over Women’s College World Series participants Alabama and Arizona State.

LSU recently completed a 34-18-1 season and made its 11th NCAA Regional appearance in 13 seasons since softball was reinstated in 1997. The Tigers will now await the final Top 25 rankings in both the NFCA and USA Softball polls that are scheduled to be released next week.
