BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Kirsten Shortridge and Cody Trahan notched LSWA Softball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week accolades Tuesday as voted upon by LSWA.
A junior outfielder, Shortridge put together an impressive week going 7-for-12 with a trio of multi-hit games, four stolen bases, five RBIs and a .833 slugging percentage. She went 6-for-8 during the South Carolina series tallying a career-best five RBIs breaking open game one with a grand slam in the second inning. The Texas native also added a three-hit shutout in the circle during game two of the series.
A junior pitcher, Trahan tossed a two-hit shutout to open the series and fired a one-hitter during the series finale as LSU held South Carolina without a run for the entire weekend. She limited the Gamecocks to a .081 batting average and mowed down 12 batters against one walk. Trahan entered the series finale after Dani Hofer started the game with a strike in her season debut.
It’s the first career weekly honors for Shortridge and Trahan from the LSWA.
