BATON ROUGE – For the sixth consecutive week the LSU Beach Volleyball team has been ranked as the No. 4 team in the nation by both the AVCA and DiG Magazine. LSU has held a spot in the AVCA Top-10 for 32 straight weeks.
LSU was ranked No. 4 for the first time in program history after a perfect opening weekend at the FSU Invitational, but dropped to No. 6 after going 2-2 in week two. Going into week three, LSU defeated No. 3 Pepperdine and No. 5 Hawaii to catapult back to No. 4, a ranking that it has held ever since. The top-four has gone unchanged since then with No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 USC and No. 3 Florida State all holding on tight to their respective spots.
The Tigers closed out the regular season over the weekend with a perfect record at the Battle on the Bayou to finish 25-5. This is the third straight season that LSU has won at least 25 matches, but this is the first time in program history to reach that mark in the regular season.
LSU will compete in the CCSA Tournament this week, April 19-21, in Emerson, Georgia at the Rally Sports Complex. The Tigers finished as the runner-up at the event last year, falling in the championship to Florida State. LSU is 12-2 against CCSA opponents this season.
The NCAA will announce the national championship field of eight teams on Sunday, April 28. LSU has gone to the National Championship in Gulf Shores, Alabama as one of the final eight teams in each of the past two seasons.
