Price Wins 60 Meter Hurdle Title at New Mexico Meet

Albuquerque, N.M. Arthur Price headlined the final day of the New Mexico Collegiate Classic for the LSU track and field squad out in New Mexico at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

The senior from Baton Rouge had the best performance of his collegiate career in the hurdles on Saturday. The only LSU men’s representative in the 60 meter hurdles, Price qualified for the finals with a preliminary time of 7.97. In the finals, he edged out seven other hurdles for the title with a career-best time of 7.88. Price celebrated his birthday in fine fashion as the time of 7.88 is the 10th quickest in LSU history.

In the women’s 60 meter hurdles, Milan Young was edged by the narrowest of margins at the finish line by Monisha Lewis of San Francisco State. Lewis finished with a time of 8.217 and Young crossed the finish line just after with a readout of 8.219. Brittley Humphrey claimed bronze in the event with a time of 8.32.

In the 60 meter dash, Akanni Hislop registered a personal best of 6.71 in the event to take the top collegiate spot and finish second overall behind professional Eric Cray. On the women’s side, Kortnei Johnson (7.21) and Ariyonna Augustine (7.33/PR) sprinted to a 2-3 finish. Rachel Misher was the third Lady Tiger in the final and placed fifth with a readout of 7.44.

In the men’s 400 meter dash, Tyler Terry (47.33) and Christian Boyd (47.92/season best) took second and third on the podium.

LSU will make its second trip of the indoor season to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Invitational that will take place on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 8-9). A select group of distance runners will travel to Ames, Iowa, for the Iowa State Classic (Feb. 8-9) as well.
