BATON ROUGE – LSU guard Tremont Waters was named the men’s state college basketball Player-of-the- Week Monday by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Of the three nominations for the week of Dec. 17-23, Waters was the unanimous choice by the panel of voters.
Waters played 35 minutes and scored 20 points with seven assists to lead the Tigers to an 18-point, 75-57 win over No. 24 and previously undefeated Furman on Dec 21 in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The sophomore from New Haven, Conn. had five rebounds, one block and two steals in the Tigers win over the Paladins. Six of Waters seven assists came in the second half when LSU had an early run to break open the game after leading by four at the half. He scored 10 points in each half.
