AUSTIN, Texas – Freshman Nick Watson swept through all four matches in Flight D to take home the Longhorn Invitational singles title at the Texas Tennis Center Sunday.
“It was a good way to end the tournament,” co-head coach Chris Brandi said. “Nick (Watson) has improved as much as anyone on our team and still has room to grow, which is exciting. Now, it is time to get back to work.”
In the final match of the weekend, Watson gritted out back-to-back tiebreakers to defeat Texas Tech’s Jackson Cobb, 7-6(1), 7-6(4) and clinch the Singles Flight D title.
The Longhorn Invitational concludes the fall season for the Tigers. LSU will begin the dual season with the Donni Leaycraft Scramble on Saturday, January 19, at the LSU Tennis Complex.
