PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – The defending national champion doubles team of Jessica Golovin and Eden Richardson dominated competition in the main draw of the ITA All-American tournament for LSU women’s tennis on Thursday.
The Tiger pair defeated Vanderbilt’s Fernanda Contreras and Summer Dvorak, 8-3. They will advance to the doubles quarterfinals to face No. 17 Caroline Lampl and Kimberly Yee of Stanford beginning Friday at 11 a.m. CT.
No. 38 ranked Richardson in Oracle/ITA singles preseason rankings earned a big singles win against No. 18 Kate Fahey. The sophomore Tiger took the match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Richardson will square off in a round of 16 against No. 2 Makenna Jones of North Carolina. The singles round will start at 12:45 p.m. CT.
