Men's Basketball Opens at 23 in AP Preseason Poll

BATON ROUGE – The LSU Tigers are ranked 23rd in the 2018-19 preseason men’s basketball poll as voted on by media throughout the country and distributed Monday by the Associated Press.

The Tigers open the season on Tuesday, Nov. 6 against Southeastern at 7:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the LSU Lady Tigers at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Season tickets are available at the LSU Athletics Ticket Office and online at LSUtix.net.

Kansas is No. 1 with four other SEC teams listed in the preseason poll: Kentucky No. 2, Tennessee No. 6, Auburn No. 11 and Mississippi State No. 18.

It has been 54 poll dates since the Tigers were last ranked in the AP poll (Nov. 23, 2015) when the Tigers were No. 22. This will be the 199th poll that LSU has been ranked in one of the AP polls in college basketball.
