WEST POINT, Miss. – LSU senior Kathleen Gallagher holds a two-stroke lead after the first round of the 2018 Magnolia Invitational at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi.
Gallagher shot a 4-under 68, matching her first round score from last season. She shot even on front nine with birdies on Hole No. 8 and No. 9 going into the turn. Gallagher started the back nine with back-to-back birdies to get to 2-under. The native of Greenwood, Mississippi, picked up two more birdies on No. 14 and No. 15 to hold on to the individual lead.
As a team, LSU, under the direction of first-year head coach Garrett Runion, is currently in fifth place at 2-over 290. Junior Monica Dibildox is currently tied for 12th with an even 72, while sophomore Kendall Griffin is tied for 27th at 2-over 74. Rookies Alden Wallace and Presley Baggett each posted a 4-over 76.
Round Two is set to begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, with LSU’s quintet to tee off at 8:50 a.m. with Oklahoma and Auburn from Hole No. 1. Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com.
