Hilton Head Island, S.C. – LSU senior Claudia De Antonio took over the lead at the 2018 Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club today. De Antonio stands alone in the lead with a two-round score of 3-under 139, moving up from second place after yesterday’s first round.

The native of Caracas, Venezuela, was 2-under through the first six holes today, making birdies on No. 4 and No. 5 before finishing even on the front nine. She stayed even on the back nine until No. 18 to finish the second round at 1-over 72. Combined with her career low 67 from Friday, she was able to stay one stroke ahead of Alabama’s Laura Stephenson in second at 2-under 140.

The LSU women’s golf team sits in seventh place at 25-over par after two rounds. Every team in the field shot at least 7-over in the second round.

No. 1 Alabama leads the tournament at 9-over par by six shots over No. 12 Northwestern. No. 3 Arkansas is in third place at 18-over par.

De Antonio’s classmate Sydney Cavin finished 5-over 76 on the day after hitting 1-under on the front nine to start the day. Junior Kathleen Gallagher and freshman Mary Frances Chauvin both shot 6-over 77 in the second round to contribute to the team scoring.

The final round will start at 8 a.m. ET with LSU teeing off in the first group on No. 1 with Vanderbilt and Georgia. Live scoring is available at GolfStat.com.
