Volleyball Plays Host to Alabama Sunday

BATON ROUGE – After winning its third-straight match Friday night against Auburn, the LSU volleyball team (14-4, 5-2 SEC) returns home to play host to Alabama ( 14-6, 2-4 SEC) Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Maravich Center.

The matchup will be aired live on the SEC Network+. Fans can access the match online through WatchESPN.com and the app. Lyn Rollins and Garrett Walvoord will be on the call.

Last Time Out
LSU is coming off a significant road victory, as the Tigers put together a sweep of Auburn Friday night in Auburn Arena. It was the first time the Tigers defeated Auburn on the road since the 2012 season. LSU took the three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-23 and 26-24. Gina Tillis and Jacqui Armer led the offensive charge with eight kills each. Raigen Cianciulli anchored the back row with a team-high 16 digs. Tillis also added 10 digs.  

A Look at Alabama
Alabama has won three of its last five matches and are coming off a 3-1 win over Alabama State on Thursday. The Crimson Tide is 14-6 on the year and 2-4 in the SEC. Prior to their match with Alabama State, they took down Tennessee in five sets. They are led offensively by Leah Lawrence as she has a total of 196 kills on the year for an average of 2.61 per set. She is hitting .343 and also averages 1.15 blocks per set. Quincey Gary anchors down the back row with 4.68 digs per set while Meghan Neelon dishes out 10.1 assists per set.

All-Time vs. Alabama
LSU leads the all-time series against Alabama 34-27. The last time the Tigers beat Alabama was on November 30, 2013. Alabama has won the last four meetings.

Team Notes
>> The Tigers are 4-0 at home for the first time since 2010. 

>> Last week the Tigers went 2-0 on the weekend, defeating Mississippi State in three sets and Arkansas in a five-set thriller. The Arkansas match was the fourth time this season that the Tigers rallied back from a 2-1 deficit.

>> Gina Tillis is getting close to 1,000 career kills. With her eight kills against Auburn, she now sits at 983 with 17 kills left to go to reach the feat. She will become the 22nd Tiger in program history to reach 1,000 kills.
