BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 4 LSU (16-5) plays host to Southeastern Louisiana (14-5) at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.

The Tigers won four of five games last week, including a three-game sweep of Georgia to open Southeastern Conference play. LSU defeated the Bulldogs, 22-9, on Friday night, and the 22 runs represented the most scored by LSU in an SEC game since the Tigers defeated Arkansas, 27-6, on March 22, 1998, in Baton Rouge.

Southeastern Louisiana has won 10 of its past 11 games – the Lions’ 10-game win streak ended Sunday with a Southland Conference loss to Lamar.

“We have tremendous respect for (SLU coach) Matt Riser and the Southeastern program, and they have played at a very high level all season,” said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. “We’ve always had great games with them over the years, and they have another excellent team with a lot of talented ball players. They’ve been one of the hottest teams in the country, and it’s going to be real battle that we’re looking forward to.”

LSU enters Wednesday’s game batting .318 as a team with 17 homers and 28 steals in 37 attempts. SLU is hitting .252 on the year with 12 homers and 42 steals in 55 attempts.

LSU sophomore leftfielder Antoine Duplantis earned National and SEC Player of the Week honors on Monday after batting .425 (10-for-23) in five games last week with two doubles, one homer, 14 RBI, seven runs and a .536 on-base percentage.

In LSU’s three-game SEC series sweep of Georgia, Duplantis batted .615 (8-for-13) with one double, one homer, 10 RBI, six runs and a .688 on-base percentage. Duplantis is hitting  .375 (33-for-88) this season with four doubles, two triples, one homer, 21 runs, eight steals and 28 RBI.

Senior shortstop Kramer Robertson batted .636 (7-for-11) in the Georgia series with three doubles, two RBI and 10 runs scored. Robertson tied the LSU single-game record for doubles with three in Friday night’s game versus the Bulldogs. He is hitting .388 on the year with nine doubles, one triple, one homer, 12 RBI and 32 runs scored.

Senior second baseman leads the Tigers in batting average at .400 (30-for-75) and on-base percentage (.511), and junior rightfielder Greg Deichmann is hitting .351 with team-highs of seven homers and 28 RBI.

The Lions are led at the plate by junior infielder Taylor Schwaner, who is batting .362 with four doubles, two triples, five homers and 30 RBI. Junior outfielder Drew Avans is hitting .333 with nine steals and 24 runs scored for SLU.

LSU leads Southeastern Louisiana, 67-17, in a series that began in 1937. The Tigers defeated SLU on April 20 of last season, 11-4, in Baton Rouge. LSU has won 21 of the last 22 meetings between the schools — SLU’s win in that stretch came in 2008, a 6-3 victory over the Tigers in the original Alex Box Stadium. LSU has a 40-3 mark against Southeastern Louisiana since 1990.
