BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU senior second baseman Cole Freeman earned SEC Player of the Week recognition Monday from the league office. Freeman shared the honor with of Robbie Glendinning of Missouri.

Freeman, a native of Mandeville, La., hit .500 (8-for-16) in four games last week with seven runs scored, two doubles, two RBI,  one stolen base and a .556 on-base percentage. He hit .545 (6-for-11) in LSU’s three-game sweep of Wichita State with two doubles, two RBI and seven runs.

Freeman, who has a current 10-game hit streak, increased his batting average for the season to a remarkable .482 (27-for-56), which leads the SEC. He has five doubles, nine RBI, 17 runs, six stolen bases and a .574 on-base percentage through LSU’s first 16 games of the season.
