UPDATE: On day three of the SEC Championships, Kara Kopcso punched her ticket to the ‘A’ final in the 100 fly prelims, coming in seventh overall at 52.34 at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
Leah Troskot and Haylee Knight each earned spots in the ‘B’ final of the 200 free and 100 fly prelims respectfully. Troskot took 15th overall at 1:47.22, and Knight picked up a personal best in the 100 fly, finishing at 53.22 to retain her spot at sixth on LSU’s all-time list.
Devon Dabney also received an invite to the consolation final in the 200 free after tallying a time of 1:47.90
For the men, Logan Rysemus claimed fourth in the prelims of the 100 fly with a time of 46.10 to advance to the ‘A’ final. Brandon Goldman secured a spot in the bonus round after swimming to a time of 46.82 for 13th place, earning a spot at sixth on LSU’s all-time list.
Four other swimmers also achieved personal bests in their respective events in the prelims.
In the 100 fly, Joao Mescolote picked up his fastest time, clocking at 48.71., and Sophie Weber also swam to a career-low time of 54.13 in a time trial of the event.
Tennyson Henry collected a personal best at 1:49.36 in the 200 free, and in the 400 IM, Sven Saemundsson touched the wall at 3:52.66 in the 400 IM prelims to earn a spot at sixth on LSU’s all-time list in the event.
For the second consecutive event, LSU sent at least two divers to the finals on three-meter, and all four divers for the Tigers placed in the top-10 in the prelims. Juan Celaya-Hernandez finished third with a score of 423.95. Matt McClellan picked up a career-high in the event, compiling an impressive score of 399.45 for fifth overall and moving to fourth place on LSU’s all-time list.
Matt Phillip just narrowly missed out on a trip to the finals after logging a score of 371.85 for ninth overall. Andrew Suchla followed in 10th, diving to a score of 367.50.
The finals for the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free and men’s three-meter will start at 6 p.m. ET.
