Foster Dominates Opening Day of Pre-Qualifying

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Ryann Foster won all three of her matches without dropping a set on the first day of pre-qualifying at the ITA/Riviera Women’s All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club Saturday.

In doubles competition, the pairing of Foster and Abby Owens defeated Katarina Stresnakova and Lena Ruppert of Oklahoma State 8-3.

Foster then went on to defeat University of Denver’s Bianca Mok 6-3, 7-6 before dominating No. 97 Jessica Failla of USC 6-1, 6-2 in singles competition.

Owens, meanwhile, fell to No. 88 Madison Westby of USC and then dropped a hard-fought, three-set match to No. 119 Fernanda Navarro of Clemson.

Foster and Owens will continue pre-qualifying doubles competition against Oregon’s Shweta Sangwan and Alyssa Tobita Sunday at 12:15 p.m. CT while Foster will look to advance to the qualifying stage with a win over Marie Klocker of San Jose State at 2:30 p.m. CT.
