BATON ROUGE – The time keeps ticking toward a home-opening kickoff Saturday night at Tiger Stadium, but for the staff of Tiger Concessions by Chartwells has been working almost round the clock to make sure all is ready for the stadium opening and the thousands looking for good food and drink during the course of the night.

The slogan began last year by the group will be just as present in 2016 as Tiger Concessions will again believe in the motto: “We Feed Tigers!”

The numbers on an average Saturday night are astounding and here are a few examples:

  • 70 tons of ice (on average it’s around 450 tons for the season) and that number will be up on an expected hot Saturday like this weekend.
  • 30,000 hot dogs
  • 18,000 bags of peanuts (seriously, how many shells does that represent on cleanup?).
  • 12,000 cups of frozen lemonade
  • 20,000 orders of nachos
  • 75,000 bottles of water

Those numbers can be staggering. Every hot dog, every peanut bag, etc., is stocked, inventoried, placed in stands, sold and distributed by a staff of 1,400 on game day.

“The Tiger Concessions team has been working diligently to prepare for the 2016 Football season,” said Jack Cruise, Senior Director of Operations for Tiger Concessions. “We are excited to continue the tradition of providing the best food and beverage options for the Tiger fans.”

When fans come to the campus and to Tiger Stadium, the normal concessions fare will be complimented by new local vendors.

This year, the student section will continue fan favorites such as Papa John’s Pizza, Kona Ice, Smashburger’s Smashmobile, and more. A new addition to the student section will be The Kolache Kitchen featuring a variety of sweet and savory koloches and other tasty fresh baked goods.

Scattered throughout the stadium fans will also enjoy such things as Gaudet’s Landing, Lava Cantina, Caliente, City Gellato and Leroy’s LipSmack’n Lemonade to cool off. Leroy’s award winning lemonade has become quite popular throughout Baton Rouge.

Leroy Hayward is a young entrepreneur dedicated to building a successful lemonade business with a portion of the proceeds going to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital of New Orleans and Tiger Concessions is pleased to be able to join in this partnership.

Back by popular demand will be the “bottomless popcorn bucket,” which is great for sharing with your Tiger family and friends at the game.

“Be on the look out for new and exciting vendors, all local, as we have some great things coming for the 2016 Football season,” said Cruise.
