BATON ROUGE, La. – Beginning Wednesday night at 11 p.m. CT, LSU will stage their annual takeover of the SEC Network with the first of five scheduled airings of classic LSU football games throughout the course of the 24-hour long event with a replay of the 2011 Cowboys Classic against Oregon kicking off the festivities.
LSU has selected 12 events in six different sports from the archives to relive with fans on the national TV network for 24 consecutive hours. (Note: takeover schedules were created from television inventory available to ESPN and the SEC Network.)
The Cowboys Classic victory against the Ducks jump started an unprecedented run that saw the team earn its first undefeated regular season since 1958.
At 10 a.m. on Thursday morning, the network will air LSU’s game against Texas A&M from September 13, 1986, a game the Tigers won 35-17 over the Aggies. Following right after at noon is a replay of the 1997 contest against the Florida Gators, where the program earned its first win over a top-ranked opponent with a 28-21 win.
At 4 p.m., fans will be treated to last year’s resounding victory against Auburn in Tiger Stadium that saw running back Leonard Fournette rush for 228 yards and three touchdowns en route to a 45-21 victory.
The final football airing of the day will be a replay of the Tigers claiming their third national championship, and first under head coach Les Miles, in the 2008 BCS National Championship Game win over Ohio State in New Orleans.
