BATON ROUGE, La. – Beginning Wednesday night, LSU will begin its 24-hour takeover of the SEC Network with a re-airing of 12 classic Tiger events, as included in that run will be the softball team’s heart-stopping 1-0 win over the Oklahoma Sooners from the 2015 season.
Airing at 4:30 a.m. CT Thursday morning, fans will be able to watch or record the entirety of the Tigers competing in a rare, non-conference regular season top-10 matchup at home in Tiger Park against the perennial power Sooners at Tiger Park.
LSU, who ascended to the No. 1 ranking for the first time in program history that same week, welcomed sixth-ranked Oklahoma to Baton Rouge that featured two of the top pitching and hitting staff’s in the nation at the time. The pitching proved to be the dominant force in the contest as the two sides combined for just four hits. Each team had chances to score, with a combined 10 runners left on base.
Carley Hoover struck out five in the two-hit shutout to improve to 8-1 on the season at the time, as the scoreless deadlock ended in the bottom of the sixth as Bianka Bell drilled a solo home run to give the team a lead it would not relinquish.
The Tigers never trailed in the two-game series, as the very next day they went on to defeat Oklahoma 10-2 in six innings to earn the weekend sweep.
