Linge Concludes Career at NCAA’s

ATLANTA — Senior Alex Linge finished 31st in the 100 free with a time of 43.31 to conclude his four-year career and the LSU men’s swimming and diving season on the final day of NCAA Championships at Georgia Tech’s McAuley Aquatic Center.

“For Alex, it obviously was not how he hoped to conclude his collegiate career,” LSU swimming coach Dave Geyer said. “When you look at his career at LSU an athlete and adult, it is wonderful. He led this team as a captain this year and walks away as the fastest 100 freestyler in school history.

In his third NCAA Championships appearance and first as an individual qualifier, Linge finished 31st in the 100 fly (46.90) and 36th in the 50 free (19.87).

The Tigers finished NCAA’s with six points. Junior Logan Rysemus led the way with All-America honors in the 100 fly and 100 back with appearances in the consolation finals of both events.

“This was a building year for us, and we improved our finish at the NCAA level,” Geyer said. “Having Logan gain the experience here, others making big strides within conference and adding some incoming talent I am excited about next year’s team and ready to get back to preparation for Olympic Trials.”

LSU swimmers, under Geyer and assistant coaches Jeana Kempe, Chase Kreitler and Steve Mellor, return to the pool for Olympic Trials training the next three months. The trials will be held in Omaha, Nebraska June 26 – July 3 at the CenturyLink Center.
