BATON ROUGE – A top hitting performance by Bianka Bell of LSU and two pitching efforts by Taylor Bishop of Southeastern and Kylee Joe Trahan of UL-Lafayette earned the trip the vote for the Louisiana Sports Writers Association player of the week honors in college softball.

Bell had four home runs for the Tigers to earn LSWA Hitter of the Week honors. Bishop helped Southeastern Louisiana to a 5-0 week with three relief efforts that results in two wins and a save. Trahan struck out 12 over 12 innings and pitched her second perfect game of the 2016 season during her three appearances for the Cajuns. That earned both Bishop and Trahan the LSWA Pitchers of the Week honors.

HITTER
BIANKA BELL — LSU
LSU senior Bianka Bell hit .538 for the week with four home runs and 12 RBIs, slugging 1.462 with a .667 on-base percentage in four road games for LSU last week. Bell tied the individual single-game record for RBI in a single contest with nine, helping set the record for home runs in a single game in LSU history with three against Louisiana Tech. Bell had a hit in all three contests against the Aggies, including driving in two in game two of the series, with another RBI in the finale. Bell was walked three times and struck out just once in her 13 at-bats.

PITCHER (TIE)
TAYLOR BISHOP – SOUTHEASTERN – Sr., Sugarland, Texas
5-0 in games as a team. Bishop was dominant in three relief efforts, helping the Lady Lions to a 5-0 week. She struck out six in 4.2 innings of shutout relief, allowing the Lady Lions to rally for a 4-3 win over Southeast Missouri on Wednesday. She preserved a 2-0 lead with 2.1 hitless shutout innings in Saturday’s 2-0 series opening win over Northwestern State. She came in two batters into the game on Sunday and held UIW in check, allowing SLU to rally for a 4-2 win to complete the series sweep. 14.0 IP, 9 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 10 K. 2-0, 1 SV.

KYLEE JO TRAHAN – UL-LAFAYETTE – So. P.
Kylee Jo Trahan held foes to six hits, struck out 12 over 12 innings pitched and pitched her second perfect game (third no-hitter) of the 2016 season during three appearances last week. Trahan allowed only one hit over the first eight innings pitched and ended the week surrendering only two extra base hits. She tossed three innings of one-hit, scoreless relief after relieving Alex Stewart in the seventh inning of the Ragin’ Cajuns come-from-behind 5-4 nine-inning win over McNeese State on Wednesday. After yielding a leadoff double to the first Cowgirls batter she faced, she retired eight of the final nine batters that came to the plate. On Saturday, Trahan tossed a perfect game as the Cajuns secured the series win over UT Arlington. She struck out nine of the 15 Mavericks that she faced in collecting her second perfect game and third no-hitter of the season. The shutout was her team-leading fifth of the season. She reached at least eight strikeouts for the fifth time in seven starts with at least five innings pitched.
