BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU Tigers (8-6, 1-4 SEC), following a Friday loss to No. 43 Alabama, are set to face the No. 25 team, Mississippi State (11-4, 3-2 SEC) at 1 p.m. Sunday at the LSU Tennis Complex.

The Tigers took a tough loss Friday against No. 43 Alabama. After coming back from a 3-0 deficit to the Tide, LSU fell 4-3 with the final two courts coming down to third sets. The team is 7-2 at the LSU Tennis Complex and motivated to break their three game losing streak. In their last Sunday at home, the Tigers took deciding wins over Auburn and Alcorn State.

Mississippi State is coming off a Friday loss as well to the highest ranked team in the SEC, No. 9 Texas A&M. The Bulldogs boast a No. 36 singles player in Mate Cutura along with Rishab Argarwal at No. 77.

Friday’s match saw positives for the Tigers. Courts three and five had solid wins from Junior Justin Butsch and Sophomore Simon Freund. Boris Arias also fought hard in his match against Alabama’s Danny Kerznerman, competing in three sets, to get a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory for LSU.

In January, LSU faced the Bulldogs in the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Tampa, Fla. where LSU took a 4-1 win over their opponent.

Sunday’s match will feature free crawfish for fans to enjoy before and during the competition.
