Basketball’s Hornsby Has Season-Ending Surgery

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – LSU men’s basketball coach Johnny Jones announced here on Thursday that senior guard Keith Hornsby had a season-ending medical procedure this week in Baton Rouge.

Hornsby aggravated a previous internal injury that had required surgery in November late in the first half of the Feb. 20 game at Tennessee.

Hornsby played in 20 games with 19 starts this year after returning to the court on Dec. 13 at Houston, averaging 13.1 points per game, 2.0 rebounds per game with 32 rebounds and 25 steals. Hornsby averaged 30.4 minutes per game and made 89-of-182 field goal attempts (48.9%). He was 39-of-94 at the three-point arc (41.5%).

The product of Williamsburg, Virginia, scored his career high of 32 points in his return at Houston in December and had seven games of 20 points or more for LSU. He had 10 games of 20 or more points in his career between UNC-Asheville and LSU.

He played two years at UNC-A and between the two schools posted over 1,000 career points. Hornsby went over the 1,000-point mark in the SEC Tournament game here at Bridgestone Arena a year ago.
