BATON ROUGE, La.– LSU’s No. 32 men’s tennis team took down the unranked Alcorn State, Sunday at the LSU Tennis Complex 4-0.
After a long match against Auburn where LSU came out with a 5-2 win over their No. 66 opponent, the Tigers took on Alcorn State seeing a victory from newcomer Cameron Andry on court six.
Starting off with a solid doubles win from Simon Freund and Nikola Samardzic on court two, winning 6-0, the duo of Andry and Boris Arias took the doubles point for the Tigers, winning 6-1 on court three.
As singles got started, Andry in his first dual season match, won the first singles point for the Tigers 6-0, 6-2 over Javon Yarbrough.
“Cameron did a really good job of getting in and getting the job done,” Head Coach Jeff Brown said.
The match continued with deciding victories from Boris Arias, 6-0, 6-1 and Tam Trinh, 6-2, 6-0 to end the match with LSU getting their second win of the day.
Among other SEC teams in play Sunday, LSU’s Friday opponent, No. 30 Florida fell to No. 8 Texas A&M 4-3. A&M, who defeated Auburn 6-1 Friday, is on a three game win streak.
LSU hits the road to continue SEC play against Ole Miss Friday followed by a match in Fayetteville against Arkansas, Sunday.
