BATON ROUGE – LSU senior Keith Hornsby was named to the 2015-16 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team for men’s basketball, the league announced on Friday.
In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student‐athletes beyond the field of competition, the SEC once again highlighted a Community Service Team. This marks the 18th year for the SEC Community Service Team for men’s basketball as well as for women’s basketball. All 21 league sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at‐large teams for men’s and women’s sports being chosen from 1999‐2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.
Hornsby, from Williamsburg, Virginia, has been involved with many activities on campus and in the community and earlier this week was part of the “Read Across America” activities at LaSalle Elementary on campus.
Hornsby has been a regular participant such as the Halloween BOOzar, Thanksgiving with the Tigers, the hospital visits to Our Lady of the Lake, the move-in day helping freshman and families move into campus dorm rooms and the Spring Greening project around campus.
Hornsby has appeared in a video to help Special Olympics and took part in the Mike’s Kids Club Basketball Clinic as part of his community activities.
