BATON ROUGE, La.– LSU Tennis alumnus, Michael Venus won his third ATP 250 title of the year Sunday in Marseille, France along side partner Mate Pavic. This triumph helped Venus break into the top 40 in the world for the first time in his career.
The duo is 12-2 for the year as they head to Acapulco, Mexico to face Jonathan Erlich and Colin Fleming in an ATP 500 event. The two teams met in the final round of the event in Marseille where Venus and Pavic came out victorious with a score of 6-2, 6-3.
The Skupski brothers also had a successful weekend in their event in Wroclaw, Poland playing at the ATP Challenger event. The two former LSU teammates reached the semifinals before losing to Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Olivetti Albano who went on to win the Challenger.
Monday, the brothers began play at the ATP Challenger event in Cherbourg, France and are seeded No. 1. In the first round the doubles tandem defeated Aslan Karatsev and Adam Pavlasek 6-3, 6-4.
