BATON ROUGE, La.– No. 32 LSU men’s tennis took down No. 35 Drake University in the home opener, 4-0 at the LSU Tennis Complex.
After a 6-0 win in doubles from LSU duo Gabor Csonka and Andrew Korinek, LSU secured a 6-4 victory from Justin Butsch and Tam Trinh to win the doubles point. LSU then played through to get a close 7-6 win from the 25th ranked duo Boris Arias and Jordan Daigle.
The team then carried the momentum in singles with a close win from No. 44 Jordan Daigle on court one taking down No. 76 Ben Lott 6-2, 7-5 to give the Tigers their second team point.
Senior Andrew Korinek secured the third team point; coming out strong on court six to get a 6-1 win in the first set. After falling back in the second set 3-6, Korinek regained composure to win the third set 6-1.
Clenching the match, Junior Justin Butsch played a competitive court two competition against Drake’s Bayo Philips with a final score of 6-4, 7-5.
This is a big win for LSU with Drake just coming off a win over No. 23 Minnesota and will now face instate opponent, Nicholls to follow their win over Drake.
