In the fifth of a six-part series introducing the LSU softball freshman class, today we get to know pitcher Sydney Smith.
Why did you choose to sign with LSU?
I chose LSU because of everything it stands for. I love the coaching staff and all of the facilities. I knew this would be the right place for me.
What do you like most about LSU and Baton Rouge?
What is not to like about LSU? Everyone is so nice and welcoming. I just felt at home right away in Baton Rouge.
What is your favorite part about being an athlete at LSU?
I love being on this team. We have become so close in such a short time. I love how much support and love there is in this program.
What are your favorite hobbies outside of softball?
My favorite hobbies are reading and playing golf. My parents live on a golf course, and I just love to go out there and see how far I can hit it.
What is your favorite LSU tradition?
My favorite LSU tradition is singing the Alma Mater before the football games. Feeling the whole stadium come together during that time is really cool. I just love the atmosphere.
Why did you choose your uniform number?
It was the first number I chose when I started softball, and it has stuck with me.
