CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Junior Abby Owens defeated Duke’s Chalena Scholl 7-5, 6-3 on court two during the second day of competition at the Kitty Harrison Invitational.
In addition to Owens’ victory in singles play, Ella Taylor and Skylar Holloway teamed up to defeat Texas’ Lana Groenvynck and Chelsea Crovetti, 6-1.
Jessica Golovin and Skylar Kuykendall fell to ranked opponents on courts one and three in singles play. Golovin took the opening set against No. 71 Beatrice Capra but ultimately fell 6-3, 1-6, 8-10. Kuykendall fell 1-6, 2-6 to No. 69 Samantha Harris.
The Lady Tigers return to action Sunday for the final day of competition against Michigan in singles play at 8 a.m. CT.
