Chapel Hill, N.C. — The LSU women’s tennis team continues their fall schedule at the Kitty Harrison Invitational Nov. 6-8 at the University of North Carolina’s Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center and the Duke Tennis Center.

Over the course of the three-day invite, the Lady Tigers will take on Michigan, Virginia and Duke in singles play as well as VCU, Texas and Duke in doubles action. The invitational begins Friday at 9 a.m. CT when LSU takes on VCU in doubles.

Competition will be tough as four of the teams LSU faces of the weekend finished ranked in the top-40 of the ITA team rankings. Virginia boasts three players ranked in the top-30 and both Michigan and Duke have two players ranked. The Blue Devils also have two ranked doubles teams.

“I think this weekend will be great for us,” co-head coach Julia Sell said. “We don’t usually get to play these teams so it will be good experience. This tournament has a different feel since it is a hidden duel format so it will be interesting and fun for them. They get to get comfortable in a team format, and I know they are excited to compete for the first time this year.”

LSU returns to action after sending a singles player and doubles team to the main draw of the ITA Southern Regional. Freshman Jessica Golovin reached the singles main draw final after defeating three opponents ranked in the top-60.

The duo of Abby Owens and Skylar Kuykendall also reached the main draw doubles final of the regional. It was the first time that an LSU singles player and doubles team reached the main draw final in at least 18 years.

Results of the Kitty Harrison will be available online on Twitter @lsuwten and @LSUJuliaSell, on Instagram @LSUWTen and on www.Facebook.com/lsuwten.
