BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s golf team, playing without its number one player for the second straight event, rallied for its best round of The Alamo Invitational Tuesday, concluding the fall season with a 3-over round of 291.
Kathleen Gallagher, the freshman from Greenwood, Miss., posted a 1-under par 71, while senior Nadine Dreher and sophomore Sydney Cavin posted 1-over 73s and senior Elise Bradley posted 2-over 74 for the counting scores.
LSU finished the 54-hole event in 15th place at 40-over par 904 (307-306-291) with Florida going wire-to-wire to win at 6-under 858 (293-286-279). Arkansas was second at 6-over 870 and Texas Tech was another nine shots back in third at 15-over par 879.
Dreher finished in a tie for 29th place at 6-over 222 with rounds of 74-75-73, while Gallagher moved up to a tie for 38th after rounds of 76-78-71 for a 9-over 225.
Gallagher had a team-high five birdies in her round, part of a round co-best of 17 birdies on the day with UTSA, Florida and Texas Tech. LSU was fourth in par four scoring Tuesday at 2-over par.
The Lady Tigers are now off from competitive play until the spring portion of the season which begins on Feb. 21 with the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at the English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans.
LSU will host two events in the spring, the annual LSU Tiger Golf Classic at the University Club of Baton Rouge, March 20-22, and one of the NCAA Women’s Regionals at the U-Club, May 5-7.
