SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Senior Nadine Dreher had five birdies in the opening round of The Alamo Invitational Sunday at the Briggs Ranch Golf Course to post 2-over 74 to lead the LSU women’s golf team.
Dreher is in a group tied for 19th after the first day of the 54-hole event played over a rain-drenched course that is normally known for very low scores. Only six golfers broke par and no team broke par on what essentially was the first day the players were able to hit on the course after the torrential rains in south Texas wiped out Saturday’s practice round.
Florida is the leader at 5-over par 293, with Arkansas at +6 and TCU and Texas Tech at 9-over par. The individual leaders are Lora Assad and Millie Saroha, both of Texas State, at 3-under par 69.
The Lady Tigers are in a tie for 14th place at 19-over par 307.
Besides Dreher, the Lady Tigers also counted a 4-over 76 from Kathleen Gallagher, a 5-over 77 from Elise Bradley and an 8-over 80 from Marina Hedlund.
