VENICE, Fla. – Three former LSU women’s golfers advance through second stage qualifying tournament for 2016 status on the LPGA tour Sunday after the conclusion of the 72-hole event at the Plantation Golf and Country Club.
The three finished in the top 80 and will play for their 2016 status Dec. 2-6 at the LPGA International courses at Daytona Beach.
Madelene Sagstrom, who finished her All-American LSU career by being named SEC Player of the Year earlier in the year, had a strong four rounds, finishing tied for fifth at 2-over 290.
Caroline Martens, who had status the last couple of years on the Ladies European Tour, also advanced with a 9-over 297, finishing in a tie for 29th.
Lindsey Gahm, who played on the Symetra Tour this past year, will also have a chance to play for advancement to the LPGA, finished one shot above the number at 14-over 302 (T71).
Tessa Teachman, who appeared on the Big Break series on the Golf Channel last year, fell out of the top 80 on the final round, but she is guaranteed status for 2016 on the Symetra Tour.
