BATON ROUGE – The LSU men’s basketball team put on a 30-minute skills exhibition that featured a dunk contest and intros with pyros and fireworks Saturday afternoon at the LSU Tailgate Party at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The event took place prior to the kickoff of the LSU-Florida football game across the street at Tiger Stadium.
Guaranty Broadcasting’s Jordy Culotta served as MC of the event and introduced the players who ran through fire columns and firework panels. The team then ran some weave and shooting drills before several players took place in a short dunk contest.
In the dunk contest, voted on by the crowd in the Assembly Center based on applause, senior Keith Hornsby edged out freshman Ben Simmons. The team then concluded the session with a short scrimmage.
LSU will play an exhibition game against Southwest Baptist in the Maravich Center on Nov. 6 and will open the regular season on Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. at the Maravich Center against McNeese State. Season ticket information is available at LSUtix.net.
