BATON ROUGE — Former LSU indoor volleyball player and current AVP professional beach volleyball player Angela Bensend is set to play with her partner Geena Urango at the AVP Beach Tournament in New Orleans this weekend. The pair will train with sand head coach Russell Brock and assistant head coach Drew Hamilton at Mango’s Beach Volleyball Club.
Bensend garnered 2010 first team All-SEC honors and was named to the 2010 All-Louisiana First Team as well as the 2007 SEC All-Freshman Team. Bensend played in all but six matches for the Tigers throughout her career and helped the team reach the NCAA Tournament in four straight years. She ended her career totaling 956 kills with 507 digs and 187 blocks in 119 matches. The Hermosa Beach, California, native has played in four sand tournaments, tallying two-top 10 finishes and compiling a 9-8 record with Urango.
