Football Ready for Second Spring Scrimmage

BATON ROUGE – LSU will cap a busy week of football activity on Saturday after when the Tigers will go through their second scrimmage of the spring here in Tiger Stadium.

Saturday’s scrimmage will put LSU at the halfway point for its spring drills. After Saturday, the Tigers will practice three times next week, which includes another scrimmage next Saturday in Tiger Stadium.

LSU wraps up spring drills on Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m. in Tiger Stadium with the annual National L-Club Spring Game.

“We’ve had a good week of practice up to this point and I’m looking to see improvement in all phases of the game in tomorrow’s scrimmage,” LSU coach Les Miles said. “This has been a good week for our football program as we had 400 high school coaches on campus for our annual clinic.

“It’s great to be able to welcome high school coaches across Louisiana, our neighboring states and the region to our campus to see the great things that we are doing with our program and to give them a look at what LSU has to offer.”

Among the speakers at the LSU Coaching Clinic included NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, veteran NFL offensive line coach Paul Alexander, LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, LSU defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, and Tiger defensive line coach Ed Orgeron.

Irvin, a Super Bowl Champion with the Dallas Cowboys, addressed the LSU football team on Friday afternoon.

Saturday’s scrimmage is expected to focus on all phases of the game, including special teams, and will feature the No. 1 offense facing the No. 1 defense for a portion of the workout.
