BATON ROUGE – The Southeastern Conference named LSU senior golfer Madelene Sagstrom the women’s conference golfer of the week after her runner-up performance last weekend in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.
Sagstrom just missed back-to-back individual championships this spring after tying for the indvidiual crown at the Rucker with rounds of 71-68-68 for a 6-under 207. She tied with the Golfweek No. 1-ranked golfer Leona Maguire who made a birdie on the first playoff hole to win the title.
In 21 rounds this year, Sagstrom is averaging 71.05 and is the active leader in stroke average in the SEC and following the Rucker moved up to second in the nation in the Golfweek/Sagarin performance rankings.
The Lady Tigers conclude the spring portion of the regular season March 27-29 at the University Club in Baton Rouge at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic.
