IOWA CITY , Iowa — Freshman Madison Sthamann finished third in the final of women’s platform to punch her ticket to the 2015 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships next week in Greensboro, North Carolina.
With a two-list score of 590.90, Sthamann became the third female diver to qualify for NCAA’s. Senior Alex Bettridge and junior Cassie Weil also qualified for platform. Bettridge finished ninth with a score of 539.25 and Weil finished 10th with a score of 526.10.
“As we go into NCAA Championships, this is what we’ve worked on from day one,” LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer said. “They’ve been rewarded for their hard work and dedication. Our postseason has been great with SEC Championships and regional qualifying. I’m really proud of them as a coach.”
With the addition of Sthamann, the Lady Tigers have now qualified a program record of 11 swimmers and divers for NCAA Championships.
Senior Daniel Helm also secured his third event at NCAA’s. Helm finished fourth on platform with a score of 743.04.
Allie Alter made her third final of the qualifying meet. Alter finished 15th with a two-list score of 455.30.
LSU returns to action March 19-21 in Greensboro, North Carolina for the 2015 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships. The men travel to Iowa City, Iowa for the men’s championships March 26-28.
