“It’s a great start to our meet,” LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer said. “I definitely applauded the team for their performance across the board. We still have two more days to go and they have only qualified in one event. There is still work to do.”

Andrew Suchla provided a solid performance on one-meter and finished 13th in the event (642).

Allie Alter also reached the final of three-meter on the women’s side. Alter finished with a score of 594.85 for 17th place, her highest finish at zones.

Katie Lagarde also finished 27th in prelims with a score of 269.60.

“Allie, Andrew and Katie all had really good performances on the first day. I’m proud of the way they competed in this tough field,” Shaffer added.

The divers return to the boards tomorrow at 11 a.m. with the women’s one-meter and the men’s three-meter qualifying.

The Zone ‘D’ region consists of divers from LSU, Minnesota, SMU, Missouri, Texas A&M, Houston, Nebraska, Iowa State, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Northern Iowa, Texas, Arkansas, South Dakota State, and Tulane.
