Stats and records through February 28
BATON ROUGE – After firing out to its best start in program history with an unblemished 18-0 record in February under fourth-year coach Beth Torina, the LSU softball team is the latest among the university’s athletic programs to earn the BASF Team Chemistry MVP Award for the month.
The 18-0 start which included victories over No. 13 Arizona and No. 20 Notre Dame enabled the Tigers to vault up to No. 7 in the NFCA and USA Softball Top 25 polls. The 18-game winning streak was the longest under Torina, and the longest winning streak for LSU since a program-record 24 straight wins by the 2010 team.
As a team, LSU hit .354 in February with 21 home runs and 114 RBIs with seven of its 18 wins coming via the run-rule.
