Volleyball Adds Transfer Tiara Gibson for 2015

BATON ROUGE — Coming off of another NCAA Tournament run just a month ago, the LSU volleyball team has added another key piece to making another in 2015 in the form of transfer Tiara Gibson head coach Fran Flory and the team announced today.

Gibson, a 6-3 middle from Clear Lake, South Dakota, has spent the last two seasons as a member of the South Dakota State Jackrabbits volleyball team and will have two years of eligibility remaining when she makes her debut for the team in August.

“We are excited to add Tiara to our LSU Volleyball family,” Flory said. “Tiara is a physical athlete who is the perfect match for our system. She will be a great addition in all aspects for us, as she is an outstanding person, a great team member and someone who possesses great leadership skills. Her competitive drive will help her be very successful as a member of our program.”

Gibson has been one of the top players for the Jackrabbits the past two seasons, as in 2014 she led SDSU in kills (236) and kills per set (2.02), while finishing second in hitting percentage (.205), points (291.5), points per set (2.49), blocks (96) and blocks per set (0.82). As a freshman the year before, she was just as solid, hitting .229 with 161 kills for a 1.75 kills per set average with a team-leading 69 blocks and a 0.75 blocks per set mark.

The Deuel High School product played in every match and every set for South Dakota State over the past two seasons, earning 60 starts during that stretch and over 200 sets played. At Deuel, she amassed over 700 kills, 300 blocks and 140 service aces while participating in three other sports on the prep level.
