AUBURN, Ala. – The LSU Men’s Tennis team enjoyed a strong showing on the first of the ITA Regional Tournament in Auburn, Ala. on Thursday at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. The first day included two rounds of singles play and one round of doubles play.
The Tigers had six players advance to the round of 64 including senior Chris Simpson, junior Boris Arias and sophomore Justin Butsch who won their second matches to qualify for the round of 32.
The doubles team of junior Harrison Kennedy and freshman Simon Freund also notched a victory for the Tigers in the first round of doubles play and will join Butsch and Simpson, Arias and sophomore Jordan Daigle and junior Tam Trinh and sophomore Eric Perez in the second round.
“We got some good wins in singles,” Brown said. “The guys that advanced played at a high leve. Tomorrow, all four doubles teams are in action and we will continue to build on our sucess.”
Doubles play resumes tomorrow at 8:30 AM and singles play reopens at 9:30 AM.
