AUBURN, Ala. – The LSU men’s tennis team will travel to Auburn, Alabama, on Thursday to take part in both singles and doubles action at the ITA Southern Regional Tournament in the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
The Tigers are sending eight players to the tournament including senior Chris Simpson, juniors Boris Arias, Harrison Kennedy and Tam Trinh, sophomores Justin Butsch, Jordan Daigle and Eric Perez and freshman Simon Freund. Sixteen teams are participating including Southeastern Conference opponents Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
The LSU doubles team of Tam Trinh and Eric Perez is ranked as the top seed in doubles play. Kennedy and Freund, Arias and Daigle, and Butch and Simpson round out the rest of the doubles teams for LSU.
The Tigers are rested and eager for competition as their last tournament action was at the ITA All-American which wrapped up on October 3. Head coach Jeff Brown said the team is focused on the upcoming challenge.
“The team has worked hard since the last event and they expect results,” Brown said. “the region will provide strong competition from the start.”
Kennedy and Freund will be the first doubles team to play for LSU at 8:30 a.m. CT and Freund will start the singles action for the Tigers at 9:30 a.m. CT when he squares of against Nicholls State junior Evan Karatzas in singles play.
