BATON ROUGE – The LSU men’s basketball program was listed as a “team on the rise” Wednesday by writer Terrance Payne on NBC Sports’ College Basketball Talk website.
The Tigers opened practice Wednesday for the 2014-15 seasons in preparation for their season opener on Nov. 15 against Gardner Webb. The men’s and women’s basketball teams will make their first public appearance on Friday, Nov. 17, at the second Bayou Madness at the Maravich Center. Admission will be free with a pep rally outside at 6:45 p.m. and court activities to begin at 7:30 p.m.
Among the things Payne wrote about the Tigers: “With Jarell Martin and Jordan Mickey — joined by Elbert Robinson III — the Tigers will have no shortage of size on the frontline. The back court will be new with JUCO point guard Josh Gray and 6-foot-4 transfer Keith Hornsby. LSU is one of several SEC teams looking to join Kentucky and Florida in the Big Dance.
