BATON ROUGE – The LSU Tennis team continued play at the ITA All-American Championships on Tuesday in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Case Tennis Center where senior Chris Simpson participated in the second round of qualifying play.
Simpson lost a tough first-set tiebreaker against Florida State junior Marco Nunez before ultimately losing in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2. The Tigers also had two doubles team compete as Simpson teamed up with sophomore Jordan Daigle and junior Boris Arias and sophomore Justin Butsch formed the second LSU doubles team.
Arias and Butsch fell to Georgia Tech junior Nathan Rakitt and sophomore Cole Fiegel by a score of 6-4, 7-5 while Simpson and Daigle lost to Wichita State junior Tin Ostojic and senior Tomislav Gregurovic 6-4, 6-2.
The Tigers now focus on main-draw doubles play where the No. 14 ranked team of junior Tam Trinh and sophomore Eric Perez will hope to find success.
