BATON ROUGE – The LSU Men’s Tennis team wrapped up the final day at the Cajun Classic in Lafayette on Sunday as the doubles team of juniors Tam Trinh and Andrew Korinek faltered in the championship match to TCU senior Arnau Dachs and freshman Guillermo Nunez by a score of 6-2, 6-3.
University of Georgia freshman and No. 3 seeded Wayne Montgomery went on to win the singles championship. Montgomery previously knocked out LSU senior Chris Simpson in the semifinal match.
“Solid start to the season,” said assistant coach Danny Bryan. “I am really proud of Tam Trinh who had a breakout tournament in singles. We are looking forward to a productive week of practice before heading to Tulsa.”
The Tigers also continued play at the SEC Fall Classic in Gainesville, Florida where action was limited to three coach’s matches. LSU sophomore John Michael Busch posted the lone victory for the Tigers in Gainesville with his 6-4, 6-4 victory over Tennessee senior Andrew Dromsky.
LSU head coach Jeff Brown was pleased to see Busch perform well and get a win for the team.
“We got in some extra matches today and John Michael used it to pick up a good win,” Brown said.
Sunday marked the end of competition for the Cajun Classic and the final day of play is scheduled to open at 9:00 a.m. on Monday in Gainesville.
