BATON ROUGE — After leading the football team on a 99-yard game-winning drive Friday, LSU quarterback Anthony Jennings was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week by the league office on Monday.
Jennings, who entered when starter Zach Mettenberger left the game late in the fourth quarter with an injury, piloted the Tigers to its final 10 points in a 31-27 comeback victory over Arkansas.
The true freshman has played in eight games in 2013, but saw his first significant action on Friday. He completed 4-of-7 passes for 76 yards including a 49-yard touchdown pass to Travin Dural with 75 seconds to play. He also rushed three times for 26 yards with a 21-yard run that setup the touchdown pass.
