Notes on the Tigers
LSU ended its season’s long three-match losing streak with a 3-2 comeback win over Arkansas. It was LSU’s sixth five-set victory of the season which is fourth in program history for a single season. The Tigers improved to 14-6, 4-4 in SEC play and are in seventh place in the SEC standings. Desiree Elliott provided a spark from the bench to key the Arkansas victory. She ripped 10 kills on a .300 hitting percentage over the final three sets. The 10 kills enabled Elliott to surpass former teammate Michele Williams (2008-11) for 17th place on LSU’s all-time list. Elliott was one of four players to collect double figure kills versus the Razorbacks. Briana Holman added 10 kills and recorded five of her nine blocks during the fifth set. She continues to lead the SEC and ranks fourth nationally with 1.53 blocks per set. Cati Leak (13 kills, 18 digs) and Katie Lindelow (10 kills, 10 digs) also added double-doubles for the Tigers. The 18 digs for Leak were a career-high, while Lindelow has tallied double dips in four of her last five outings. On the back row, Haley Smith averaged 4.00 digs per set over the weekend and converted on all 43 of her reception attempts. She registered 20 digs during LSU’s four-set loss to undefeated and SEC leader No. 11 Missouri, the fifth in her career she has reached 20-plus scoops. Malorie Pardo also complied a pair of double-doubles to bring her season total to a team-leading 12 double dips which are third in the SEC. LSU will play the first of its 10 November matches against No. 5 Florida [Friday – 7 p.m.] at the Maravich Center.
