BATON ROUGE – Members of LSU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee welcomed several Special Olympics Louisiana Athletes to campus last Sunday.
Meghan Charbonnet, a sophomore with the cross country team, spearheaded the event which included a tour of the baseball facilities, football operations and a tailgate with other LSU student-athletes at Sunday’s soccer game against Mississippi State.
“We had a great time connecting with the Special Olympic athletes,” Charbonnet said. “They reminded me what’s really important in life.”
In addition to Charbonnet, there were a total of 15 student-athletes from gymnastics, swimming and diving, football and track and field that were in attendance to interact and tour with the Special Olympics athletes.
“We look forward to these opportunities,” gymnast Jessie Jordan said. “This was a great experience for our freshman to see how appreciative these athletes were to interact with us and see our facilities.”
