BATON ROUGE – The LSU Soccer program continues to pile up its share of preseason recognition as juniors Alex Arlitt and Jodi Calloway were honored with preseason All-Southeastern Conference honors over the weekend with the release of the 2013 College Sports Madness Preseason All-SEC teams on Saturday afternoon.
Calloway has been tabbed a First-Team All-SEC performer and Arlitt has been selected as a Second-Team All-SEC performer during the preseason as the Tigers are now less than two weeks from the start of their 2013 campaign. Both Calloway and Arlitt were recognized by the SEC’s head coaches following their freshman season in 2011 with a selection to the SEC All-Freshman Team.
LSU will play host to Nicholls State in a preseason exhibition match on Friday at 7 p.m. before hosting their regular-season opener against Louisiana Tech on Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. at the LSU Soccer Stadium.
Texas A&M leads the way with a combined six first-team and second-team selections on the 2013 CSM Preseason All-SEC Teams released this past weekend. The Aggies are the preseason favorites to secure the SEC’s regular season championship following a vote of the league’s 14 head coaches released on July 23.
Missouri follows Texas A&M with three selections to the 2013 CSM Preseason All-SEC Teams, while LSU is among five clubs with two selections each that also includes Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss and Tennessee. Among those with one preseason All-SEC selection are Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.
