KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. — The LSU men’s tennis team started off their 2012 campaign on a high note, racking up three wins in singles play and a pair of wins in doubles at the Key Biscayne Invitational in Key Biscayne, Fla.
Roger Anderson, Olivier Borsos and Chris Simpson all earned singles wins over their University of Virginia and Michigan opponents to start off the day.
In doubles, the No. 28 Tiger duo Borsos and Simpson took care of UVA’s Julien Uriguen and Steen Rooda with an 8-4 victory. Stefan Szacinski and Roger Anderson also picked up a win for the Tigers defeating Michigan’s Barrett Franks and Alex Petrone 8-4.
“Our goal today was to get the most out of every match,” head coach Jeff Brown said. “Obviously, our goal is to always to win, and we won most of those matches today. For the matches we didn’t win, we got the most out of them which will be our goal throughout the week.”
The Tigers will play again at 10:30 am CT tomorrow morning. They will start with doubles and follow with singles play.
“The purpose of this tournament is to prepare for the season,” Brown explained. “It is obvious from the way the guys played today that they prepared well over the holidays. We are ahead of schedule in that regard.”
